What are suggested tags?
ZoneTag makes tagging on the phone easier for you -- by allowing you to select tags from a list of, hopefully, relevants tags. ZoneTag assembles the list from tags that you've used in that location before, publicly visible tags that your Flickr friends have used in that location before and tags that correspond to nearby items from the Yahoo! Local database. Yahoo! Local objects are things like businesses, venues and events - you can also see them on Yahoo! Local and Upcoming. All suggested tags are tags that would be visible to you on the Flickr site or within the Yahoo! network.
ZoneTag is constantly learning. And we will be tweaking our suggested tag algorithm to suggest the most useful tags for you. The more you use ZoneTag, the better the suggested tag feature will be. Please give us feedback!
How often does ZoneTag contact the server?
ZoneTag contacts the server when it detects that you've moved into a different cell tower zone. If you have not changed your location in a while, then ZoneTag will contact the server every 10 minutes. So if you are changing your location rapidly, then ZoneTag will try to contact the server more frequently in order to have the most up-to-date tag suggestions for your current location.
You can configure whether to allow ZoneTag to periodically contact the server or not. See the instructions.
Why does ZoneTag need to contact the server?
In order to have the list of suggested tags ready for you to select at the time you're ready to upload your photo, ZoneTag needs to find out what those tags are ahead of time. Otherwise, you will not be presented with the most up-to-date tags for that location when you choose to upload your photo.

Does this mean that ZoneTag knows where I am throughout the day?
No, absolutely not. We do not retain any history of which cell towers you travel through. The only information we store is the context tags that is associated with the photos you chose to upload. And you control the visibility of the location tags associated with your photos on Flickr.
What if I don't want ZoneTag to contact the server?
You have full control and can configure ZoneTag to not contact the server. See the instructions.
Remember that your list of suggested tags may be out-of-date, but you can manually refresh the suggested tags list before you take a photo. Just go under ZoneTag "Options", select "Tag Suggestions" and choose "Refresh Now".
